    Course Objectives

    • To present the state-of-the art developments in medical informatics, public health informatics and bioinformatics.
    • To increase the knowledge of the participants in the application of the most recent information technology tools in medicine, public health and biomedical investigation in Thailand.
    • To enable participants to develop and fortify collaborative studies both locally and internationally.
    • To improve the use of current informatics tools by the participants.
    • To form new working hypotheses and conduct new collaboration research projects concerning global health problems.
    • To present and share student group projects on medical/public health informatics and bioinformatics in the prevention and control of health problems in the Asia Pacific regions.

    One day trip sightseeing in Ampawa Floating Market and Don Hoi Lod, Samutsongkram

         We will take you to Don Hoi Lod. It is a bar at the mouth of Mae Klong river, created by sedimentation of sandy soil. It occupies a vast area 3 km wide and 5 km long. This bar contains various species of mollusk such as Hoi Lai, Hoi Puk (ridged venus clam), Hoi Ped, Hoi Khaeng (scallop), and most abundant is Hoi Lod (Razor clam).

         Tour along the Klong by boat, you will see the Thai life's style at 2 sides of the Mae Klong river. And then, we will stop at Ampawa Floating Market where is the famous floating market at Samutsongkram and well known by worldwide. More tourists will visit here when they have a chance to visit Mae Klong, Samutsongkram. A lot of goods such as sea food, various fruites, vegetables and souviniors. Enjoy walking at the Ampawa Floating Market.

    Teaching Methods and Facilities :

    • Lecture

      Lectures are provided by PHI expert from the CPHI, University of Washington and guest lectures.


    • Supporting Facilities

      The BIOPHICS and Department of Tropical Hygiene located in the Faculty of Tropical Medicine are well equipped with training facilities including computers and free internet access.


    • Class Activities

      Training is given in English as block system to allow extensive study of the subject area. Participants will attend lectures, and practical/computer sessions which provide motivating learning environment.


    Workshop Fee and Accommodation :

           The workshop fee and other traveling and lodging expenses are supported by Rockefeller Foundation. The guest house located within the Faculty of Tropical Medicine will accommodate for 2 workshop participants per room. Lunch will be served at the training facilities. Other meals will be provided via per diem.
